Intriguing story line, easy reading, but too detailed and repeat court chapters.
There are certain aspects of books written by Mr. Grisham that make them fun, interesting and educational. This book contains none of them. Very disappointing and pretty much a waste of time. It’ll be a very long time before I am tempted to spend money on another book by Mr. Grisham.
It’s time for Grisham to quit resting on his laurels and take pride in his work or retire. This is a weak story and poorly written. The reader does not need another summary of the battles in the PI. Take out the history and the reader is left a with a predictable tale.
I’m an avid reader of most genres and a JG fan since the beginning like most. He’s an excellent writer which is why we keep reading. Definitely a why verses who, as previous reviewers have stated. Liked the historical fiction as a woman from Mississippi who has ironically visited the actual locations on the other side of the world which JG focused the history on. Not a “happy-ever-after” or a “justice served”. Still a good read and a page turner.
I simply wanted to get to the end and be done with it. Too long, wordy, and dismal.
First time I have ever written a review but I felt the need to not let others make the same mistake I did and actually read the book. You can take a nap from about chapter 3 until the very last 2 pages.....
Grisham’s story telling in this novel is with very little enthusiasm or color. The most interesting part is the war history, but that gets long. Interesting concept but written like a weather report. Disappointed.
